Through the Glass
I pushed past the hem of the hanging curtain, tracking a patch of clear light. Ahead lay a transparent barrier, tall and unyielding. I stepped up until my snout met the cool, flat surface of the glass. Beyond it, tree crowns swayed and a heavy grey truck rumbled down the pavement below, sending a faint shudder through the pane. My tail swept wide against the floor to brace my weight. The world out there is wide. Loud. I stood motionless, letting the glass cool my jaw while I took measure of the street.
