A Tap Against the Screen

My toes twitched, and suddenly the stillness snapped! I blinked at the hum of the glowing monitor right behind me. Gripping my crystal staff tight, I raised it and gave the smooth black ledge a sharp little tap. Click! It echoed loud and clear. Beside me stood a fierce, furry blue creature with massive claws, totally frozen in a menacing roar. I poked my staff tip toward his fuzzy white wrist—no reaction at all. Ha! I grinned, planted my feet firmly on the tabletop, and kept my staff ready for whatever came next.
