A Shift in Stillness
A sudden pulse coursed through my limbs, dissolving the artificial paralysis. I did not react with haste. Suspended mid-air in an outstretched posture, I deliberately flexed the fingers of my right hand, feeling the quiet surge of motion answer my will. The surrounding space was vacant and bathed in deep violet. Gliding an inch backward, I let the knuckles of my glove brush lightly against the matte purple surface behind me. It felt cool, smooth, and completely still. Satisfied that my control was absolute, I stilled my breath and remained poised in the shadow, observing the silent room.
