A Tap Against the Wood

My limbs feel loose and long. Deep inside, a low hum starts, then lifts into a warm little squeak. I stretch one arm forward, reaching out until my yellow mitten touches the flat wooden cabinet right behind me. Tap, tap. It gives a hollow knock back. I can move, and the cool tile beneath my feet feels completely solid. I settle my hands against the ground, ready to squeeze into the cozy corner.
