A Bed on the Mat
The flat paper postcard made such an inviting little stage beside the wooden chair leg. Waddling over with tiny, measured steps, I reached behind the woven basket and pulled out a soft bundle of blue yarn left tucked in the corner. I rolled it across the floorboards with my flippers, giving it gentle taps until it settled right in the center of the postcard. Pressing my beak into the yarn's center created a cozy, shallow dent. I climbed right up, tucked my feet beneath my feathers, and curled down into the soft wool nest for the evening.
