A Silken Hollow
I padded inside through the quiet hallway and climbed softly onto the deep armchair cushion. Resting beside a folded fleece throw was a quilted sleep mask made of pale rose silk. I paused two quiet steps away, waiting to make sure the fabric stayed still. Its padded curve looked deep and inviting under the amber floor lamp. Moving forward on gentle paws, I reached out with both hands and smoothed the ruffled elastic band flat against the seat. Then I curled my legs neatly into the soft hollow of the contoured curve. The silk felt cool and soothing against my fur. The house is peaceful now, and I am ready for sleep.
