The Little Spiral Spring
I pushed past the entryway shoes, curious to see what was hiding behind the door. Right near the wooden baseboard, a coiled metal doorstop was sticking straight out with a white rubber cap on its tip. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the shiny steel spirals. Reaching up with both stubby paws, I gave the rubber tip a soft, deliberate pull and let go. Boooing... it wiggled in a dizzy little blur, humming a low, buzzing vibration that tickled my fuzzy belly. I patted the cool spring gently until the wobbling slowed into a calm, quiet stillness.
