First Step Forward

Wahoo! A sudden spark rushed right through my boots! I stood stiff against that smooth white panel, staring at the wide wooden floorboards stretching out. My left boot felt light—so I lifted it. Click! Solid wood underneath. I uncurled my gloved fist, reached out, and pressed the flat white surface behind me. Cool, solid, and real! I took one brisk hop forward and landed firmly on the grain. I can move, full speed ahead!
