Night Watch Shakedown
Night fell. Patio went dark. Checked the cedar bench again to make sure that slate shim held up under load. Booted the leg hard. Didn't budge. Good. Found an old iron hex nut rolled into the grit near the brick wall. Heavy. Solid steel. Dragged it beneath the bench overhang, dropped down flat on the flagstones, and planted my back against the timber riser. Zero wind here. Nut sits right by my boot for a spare wedge if needed. Area secured for the night.
