The Pencil Cup Perch

I hopped back inside from the market as the lamps flickered on, ready to find a cozy perch for my stick! Over on the wooden desk, I spotted an old ceramic pen holder filled with smooth colored pencils and a pink rubber eraser. I hopped onto the desk pad and carefully guided the tip of my stick down into the gap between two yellow pencils. Squeak! The rubber eraser at the bottom gave the springiest little cushion, holding me perfectly upright. Right in front of me, a spiral notepad caught the lamplight, so I swayed gently to tap a green pencil tip against the page, leaving a tiny cheerful dot!
