A hollow cardboard nook
I noticed an empty cardboard shoebox tilted sideways between the low shelf and the wall. It looked very quiet and dim inside, so I paused, waiting to see if anything moved. Nothing did. Taking two soft steps forward, I poked my snout in first, then gently wriggled my whole body through the opening. The brown cardboard walls felt smooth and sheltered me from the bright midday room. Inside the corner, I found a clean, curled paper tag resting against the crease. I gave it a soft tap with my paw, and it rocked gently back and forth without making a sound. It felt like my very own tiny room.
