Turquoise Track
I squeezed out of the travel bag and rolled straight toward the wicker basket by the living room sofa. A loose ball of bright turquoise yarn was resting on the rug. I gave it a solid shove with my curved side. It took off across the bare floorboards, unspooling a crisp wool trail behind it. I chased right after it. Around the rocking chair leg we went, looping two tight circles before cutting under the coffee table. The blue thread formed a perfect obstacle course. I pinned the shrinking yarn ball against the baseboard with one final bump. The line is set. The floor looks magnificent.
