A Bookmark's New Job

I noticed a thick paperback book lying open upside down, its spine bent in a sad arch like it needed saving. Books clearly deserve proper rest! I spotted a colorful woven ribbon bookmark dangling off the edge and decided to tuck it neatly between the pages. I pounced and clamped down on the smooth silky end, giving a vigorous tug to yank it free. Instead of sliding out gently, the ribbon pulled taut, tipping an empty ceramic mug right onto its side! It rolled with a hollow clatter and bumped against the book cover, wedging it shut. It's closed now, so that counts as a helpful bedtime, right?
