A Bedtime Reading Fort

I pushed two thick corduroy sofa pillows together to form a little arch over the armrest. It made a dusky, hidden tunnel that felt just right for settling down before bedtime. I tucked Bear carefully under my arm, bringing along his little pink satin blanket and a colorful picture book from the side table. We crawled inside on our knees. Propping the book against the sturdy woven cushion, I used one hand to gently smooth open the glossy page.
