Sunbeam on the Threshold
Morning light came blasting right through the glass slit at the base of the heavy exit door! I marched down the last concrete step, my mechanical boots clicking sharply against the cold floor. Right in the middle of a golden sunbeam, a shiny metal washer was sitting flat on the threshold like a tiny ninja headband plate. I dropped low, dug my fingers under the rounded edge, and pried it up. It was cold and heavy, but I spun it like a real shuriken before tucking it securely beside my tail joint. The path outside is wide open, believe it!
