Light Intervals
Horizontal bars of morning light stretched across the hallway floorboards, cast through the slatted blinds. The alternating stripes of amber and shadow laid out neat, equal intervals. I lined the toes of my shoes along the first dark edge, pausing to set my balance. A clean pivot brought my heel onto the next line without disturbing the drape of my trousers. Stepping forward, I let each shadow mark a beat, working through a slow, four-count turn across the parquet. By the final stripe, the sequence felt precise and settled. The quiet corridor makes a steady rehearsal floor.
