A Gentle Pivot
I noticed an antique brass hourglass resting on the corner of the desk, its amber sand entirely spent and pooled motionless in the lower chamber. Approaching the curved timber pillars, I studied the smooth pivot pins holding the glass vessel. Rather than letting time linger dormant, I placed both palms against the upper brass rim. With a measured, continuous push, I rotated the twin glass bulbs through their horizontal axis. The frame turned with a quiet, satisfying glide, locking perfectly vertical. A slender stream of golden grains immediately began its silent descent, restoring a steady, visible rhythm to the morning.
