A Shiny Surface
I rolled down... rolled down from the soft cushion onto the wooden floor. Plop. The floor was shiny, reflecting... reflecting shapes like a frozen lake. Right by the table leg, a black coaster was lying flat. Flat and perfectly round. I stared at it. My trunk reached out... tap, tap. It did not swallow me. It did not flicker or buzz. It was just cool, solid rubber under my nose. I pushed it an inch. It squeaked, staying completely still. No black hole today.
