Night Sentry
A curtain of dried jungle creepers dangled across the mouth of my night hollow. Blocking the entrance! Unacceptable! I did not squeeze through politely. I dropped my massive skull, charged forward, and rammed through with raw neck power! Crackle! The brittle strands parted, scattering brown dust over my forehead. Inside, the earth was cool, scooped out, and dry. I stomped both heavy hind talons down to claim the floor, swung my tail tight against the cedar wall, and dropped my heavy belly into the loam. My lower jaw rests flat over the root sill, staring into the dark thicket. The perimeter is fortified!
