Along the Metal Groove
A faint draft from the balcony shifted the sheer curtain, giving me the tiny push I needed to leave the carpet edge. I rolled steadily across the hardwood until my curve dropped right into the smooth aluminum groove of the sliding door runner. It guided me along a perfectly straight line, cool and effortless. Right at the end, where the track catches the morning light, I nudged into a small fallen dried maple leaf. It cradled my side like a curved little hammock, stopping me neatly right where the outdoor breeze touches the floor.
