A Bed in the Wool
The shadows grew long across the table, so... I decided to waddle a little further. Near the corner, I found a soft knitted coaster resting beside an open book. It smelled like dry paper and quiet things. I nudged the edge with my chest until it curled up into a tiny nest. Then I climbed in, tucking my feet underneath where the lamp's golden light still left a gentle circle of warmth. It is very quiet tonight... and just right.
