Perch
Home. Soft darkness outside. I stood on the cool wood of the sill, watching a glass marble trapped inside an empty porcelain teacup. Stillness. I held my round body frozen, staring at the glossy curve. Then, roll! Into the hollow cup I plunged, tumbling downward until my fluff jammed tight against the smooth marble. Click. It rolled slightly and stopped. I did not move away. I leaned firmly into the glass sphere, nestling deep into the glazed white rim to watch the distant streetlights. Night. Warm.
