Stairwell Drop-In

Concrete hallway was just the tutorial. Down at the end of the corridor, the heavy fire door was propped open with an old wooden wedge, opening straight into a cavernous concrete stairwell. Looking down that zigzag drop gave me an instant rush. I locked my eyes on the wide, painted steel handrail curving down to the next landing. Took three hard sprint strides across the gritty landing, launched into the air, and planted both rubber soles dead-center on the tubular metal rail. Sparks didn't fly, but the smooth slide down that steep angle was pure speed until I stuck the landing right on a yellow hazard stripe. Stairway cleared.
