Vestibule Recovery

Exterior patrol concluded. I crossed the pavement and slipped beneath the glass door's bottom rubber sweep, returning inside to the heated lobby. The cold street is secured for tonight. I scaled the metal mounting frame along the wall, stepping onto the narrow brushed-aluminum ledge atop the mailbox bank. Wedged beside the brass lock of unit seven was a discarded steel paperclip, bent into a stiff right angle. I gripped the rigid wire and tested its leverage against the metal slot. Zero flex under load. A functional tension tool. I wedged it firmly into the recessed corner of the ledge for future utility. Perch established. The entire entrance remains monitored.
