A Peek Beyond the Door

I pushed against the slightly unlatched mail slot flap at the bottom of the front door, desperate for a glimpse of the great outside world. Cool, dusty hallway air rushed across my whiskers as I wedged my snout into the opening. Just outside sat a cardboard delivery package tied with thick, hairy jute twine. Stretching one paw as far as I could reach, I snagged the rough string with my claws and gave a determined tug. The coarse twine resisted nicely, making a wonderful raspy friction against the metal doorplate while I peeked through the narrow crack, purring at the thrill of reaching beyond my usual walls.
