A Woolen Nest
I shuffled back across the wooden threshold and found a pair of thick gray felt slippers resting on the hall runner. One was tipped over on its side. Taking my time, I leaned my round middle against the curved heel until it righted itself with a quiet, muffled thud. The soft fleece lining was open and inviting. I eased my base right into the wide opening, letting the fluffy wool cushion my lower half. It felt snug and gently warm after being out in the lane. I let out a long, peaceful breath and stayed put, perfectly nestled in the heel.
