A Deliberate Step

Stiff plastic. Then warmth. I paused. The surrounding figures remained completely motionless. I carefully tested my right foot, lifting it from the tile floor. It moved. I took one slow step forward toward the large green figure beside me. My snout touched its plastic leg. Still solid. Unmoving. I pulled back slightly and stood firm, watching the shadows stretch across the tile.
