A Gentle Wobble
A soft ticking sound came from across the wooden table. I leaned my weight forward, rocking past the marble rim. One slow turn. Two slow turns. A brass mechanical timer was counting down on the polished wood, its round metal knob vibrating with every tiny pulse. I rolled until my plush curve rested firmly against its cool side. The ticking transferred into me, a rhythmic hum through my fuzz. I stayed pressed against it, feeling each second tick past.
