Finding the Arc
I set my eyes on a dried brown acorn cap resting by the patio edge. A smooth wooden twig nearby looked about the right balance for a target. I squared my stance on the red brick, wedged my curved grip under a small round pebble, and lined up the angle. First shot bounced wide off the concrete riser. I adjusted my pivot half an inch, shifted weight to my back leg, and flicked again. Clean arc. The pebble rattled straight into the hollow of the acorn cap.
