A Gentle Glow
I crept out from the quiet nest, one slow paw at a time. Across the wooden floor, a warm pool of amber light fell from the floor lamp. Right by the brass base, a long, slender shadow trembled every time the curtains breathed. I approached quietly and stopped just at the edge where the glow began. Placing one paw flat onto the illuminated circle, I felt the faint, comforting warmth lingering on the polished wood. I sat down right on the seam between the light and the shade, watching the soft dust motes drift down and settle.
