A Quiet Press
The room was very dim. A faint blue glow flickered from a screen nearby, casting gentle shadows across the cloth. I stayed still for a moment, listening. Then, slowly, I shifted my weight forward. My front paw pressed down into the blanket. The woven fabric gave way under my touch, sinking just a little. It was soft and surprisingly warm. I paused, letting the quiet hum of the room settle around me. My limbs moved when I wished. I rested back into the fold, watching the soft light drift over the dark sheets.
