Evening Bedtime Taps

I grabbed an empty polished metal thimble from beside the pencil cup to serve as a bedtime helmet for the squad! 'Alright heroes, lights out drill!' I squawked in my cracking teenage pitch, scrambling up the six-sided die. I attempted an acrobatic superhero leap to crown the wooden soldier, but my cape snagged the corner of the mint tin. I spun mid-air and landed sitting flat inside the vintage car, sending it rolling backward until it bonked against my tall blue-caped partner's rigid shin. The thimble clattered off my knee, bouncing into the dinosaur's jaws. Nobody moved an inch, and I just slumped in the driver's seat laughing.
