A Gentle Roll
I squeezed carefully past the front door threshold, stepping out onto the wide stone steps. It felt so vast out here compared to the soft corners inside. Near the boot scraper, a round, smooth acorn was resting in the morning light. I paused, taking a quiet moment to look around, then reached out with one arm to give it a measured nudge. It spun slowly across the flagstone, leaving a faint spiral in the dust before bumping gently against a dried leaf. ...Sqeeck. I sat down on the warm stone right beside it, glad I stepped outside.
