A Soft Blue Ribbon
I was stepping very lightly along the wooden floorboards, worried my soft feet might squeak... when I spotted something trailing under the lowest book shelf. It was a strip of faded sky-blue ribbon, slightly curled. What if it got pulled into a tight knot? I knelt down very slowly and gently untangled it with both hands, smoothing the soft satin flat against the warm floor. It felt so silky and quiet. I rolled it up neatly so nobody would trip, and set it beside an old wooden pencil.
