Never Giving Up Tonight

Dirk Poor - You can keep hoping without standing still. Dirk keeps one thing he's never traded, never used and never shown anybody. He's had it a long time. Longer than makes any sense. Every so often he takes it out to the bottom of the hill and stands there with it. He's never gone up. That evening he didn't go up and he didn't throw it away either, which were honestly the only two ideas he'd ever had about it. He rode home and kept it. Same as every other time. Then he sat up on the spool at the crossroads with the light on and five seats around him and ran the place like he always does. Because waiting for somebody and sitting still aren't the same thing. The thing that makes Dirk the heart of this crew is that he never gives up on anybody. Sometimes that's the exact problem. And sometimes it's the only reason anybody ever comes back. One more run.
