First Step on Stone
The dark stone under my feet felt cold and firm. I shifted my weight back into my tail. It moved. My legs responded next, heavy and steady. Directly ahead stood a bright yellow cup. I pressed one claw forward and gave it a solid nudge. It slid across the slick marble with a soft scrape, holding its ground without toppling. Good. The surface is stable. The territory is firm.
