First Step on Flat Ground
My right arm was raised stiffly in the air. I paused and focused on the joint, then pulled it down against my side. It clicked cleanly into alignment. The floor beneath my feet was flat, smooth, and solid. I shifted my weight forward and pressed one foot firmly against the surface, testing the traction. A light patch stretched across the boards from the nearby doorway. I stepped forward once, square and balanced, confirming my footing was stable.
