A Soft Woolen Perch(Buddy Series, Megan)
Climbing onto the first tier of the shoe rack, I padded past the tall boots until I bumped into a small knitted mitten tucked between two heels. The oatmeal yarn had tiny flecks of honey and moss woven into the stitches, feeling soft and springy against my palms. I leaned forward and gently pressed down the folded cuff with both arms to open a wide, pillowy pocket. Stepping into the ribbed brim, I nestled down against the thick wool. Through the gap between the dark leather boots, the bright hallway felt quiet and pleasantly still.
