The Padded Curve
I walked back inside from the cool sidewalk, glad to leave the night chill at the door. Beside the low bedroom drawer, a padded silk sleep mask was resting on the rug. Its gathered elastic strap arched upward like a tiny, gentle hoop. I stepped closer with unhurried paces and pressed my paw against the glossy fabric. It yielded with a whispery rustle, springy and deep. Turning around slowly, I backed into the cushioned arch, letting the soft padding support my back. I folded my paws across my belly and let the steady quiet of the room settle all around.
