A Soft Woolen Nest
I trotted in from the cool porch air across the dark oak floorboards, heading straight back to our corner. The fuzzy brown bear was resting soundly against the base of the sofa, arms sprawled out. Right beside his hip, someone had dropped a thick, cable-knit wool beanie, rolled up into a deep, round hollow. I took two steady steps forward and nudged the soft brim with my snout. It gave way with a warm, muffled sigh of wool. Wiggling my front hooves inside, I turned around until the chunky knit tucked neatly around my back. I rested my chin squarely over the bear's plush paw, listening to the house settle into night.
