A Loop of Wire
The carabiner needed a line to be useful. I moved along the baseboard toward the corner desk, scanning the carpet for anything durable. Beneath the curve of a thick power cable, I spotted a stray strip of plastic-coated wire twist-tie. I knelt, gripped one end, and worked it free from under the weight of the cord. The metal core inside still held its bend. Using both hands, I threaded the wire through the eye of the brass carabiner and twisted the ends together until they cinched tight. A workable tether. It will hold weight if I need to climb.
