Clear Sky Ground
Fence line looked quiet, but path ahead was blocked by thick roots. Needed more space to roam. Walked beyond the clipped grass to the tree roots. Found a large fallen timber peg wedged between root knuckles. Wood weathered, dry, stuck deep in the dirt. Dropped low. Both heavy hands clamped around the shaft. Planted feet into damp turf. One hard, slow heave. Earth groaned and tore loose. Peg pulled clean out of the ground, scattering dry bark and loose moss. Ground is wider now. Path is clear.
