Gravel Perimeter
Night has settled over the gravel. From the base of the coiled hose, I surveyed the exposed line ahead. Direct transit across loose stones creates audible feedback. Along the border lay an overturned brass hose coupling, abandoned among coarse mulch. Heavy metal. Threaded collar. Using both gauntlets, I rolled the brass ring into the recessed cleft between two limestone edging stones. It wedged firm, blocking the gravel wash and reinforcing the trench. I pulled back against the cold stone flank, cape tight around my armor. The ground route is surveyed. The vigil continues.
