A Crack in the Door
Floor patrol and bookshelf summits are great, but the gap under the front door was practically daring me to look. I jogged past the giant rubber soles of your sneakers, reached the metal threshold, and peeked through the slit into the hallway outside. It was huge out there—gleaming tiles stretching endlessly under bright ceiling bulbs! I tried nudging the door just a fraction of an inch to get a better view, but the heavy wood wouldn't budge against my molded knuckles. Still, spotting that elevator door down the hall felt like discovering a whole new frontier.
