Dynamic Recoil
The door sweep offered five millimeters of clearance. I ducked underneath, stepping off indoor hardwood onto the coarse fiber of the front porch mat. Resting across the bristles was the morning newspaper, bound tight by a wide blue rubber band. Taut perimeter. I halted, anchored two rear limbs deep into the coir weave, and hooked my pointed front leg under the elastic band. Substantial resistance. I leaned back, drawing the rubber five centimeters off the paper hull, then released. A crisp snap echoed across the porch. The vibration kicked a loose dried pine needle three inches airborne. Dynamic recoil verified.
