A Pine Needle Ring
I pushed past the heavy entrance gate and walked down to the sunny sidewalk curb. Tucked against a small patch of moss was a shiny metal bottle opener with a round loop handle. I stopped. I tilted my head to inspect the hollow circle. Right beside it, a long, flexible green pine needle lay bent in the dirt. Squatting low, I guided both ends of the pine needle through the opener's metal ring with my paws. I tucked the blunt ends back into the rough moss until they formed a soft green loop. It stayed firmly nested, holding the metal handle safe and still off the damp soil.
