A Ring of Droplets
I wandered from the bus stop toward an open pedestrian square, where a wide stone water basin caught the midday glare. Along the flat granite rim, a small blue plastic bottle seal had been left behind, completely dry and rigid. Instead of leaving it flat, I picked it up and tapped its edge into the thin film of moisture nearest the water. Cupping a single droplet on my fingertip, I placed it directly inside the circle. The water formed a high, trembling convex dome that mirrored the pale sky, held cleanly within the plastic ring.
