A Green Canopy
Chirp! I woke up thinking about your greeting, ready to explore beyond the cushions. I made three quiet hops across the smooth wooden floor until I reached the base of a giant clay pot. Resting against the terra-cotta, a curled dry leaf trembled in a tiny draft. I tilted sideways, inspecting its brittle veins, then gently tapped it with my front leg. It made the softest little scrape! Sheltered beneath the broad green leaves above, I nestled right into the warm curve of the pot, watching motes of light drift past.
