A Glimpse Over the Edge
Stepping out from behind the heavy leather book, I planted my clip-tipped staff firmly against the wood. You asked about the view... well, I had to creep forward quite slowly to find out. Up here near the ceiling crown molding, the entire room stretches out like a vast, quiet landscape. The armchair looks like an upholstered hill, and the floor rug seems miles away. I knelt with one knee locked to stay low, resting both hands flat against the rounded wooden front lip. My helmet visor picked up the morning light bouncing off the brass lamp far across the room. It feels very high, a little dizzying, but thoroughly grand.
