A Kindred Feather
I slipped out of an open shopper's tote right onto a sturdy pine display table, landing squarely before a tall brass cage. Perched right on a swinging dowel was a resplendent green conure, eyeing me with pure curiosity! Here at last was a critic of tropical stature and peerless taste. I snapped to full posture, adjusted my pirate hat with a flourish of my fronds, and belted out a melodic, gravelly pirate call. The bird cocked its head, let out a joyful squawk, and hopped down to the bottom rung, tapping its black beak against the wire directly beside my base. A spectacular duet!
